Membership
The Kassel Mission Historical Society is a Federal Income Tax-exempt 50I(c) organization. Its purposes are:
- To perpetuate and promote the memory and history of the Kassel Mission of September 27,1944 by the 445th Bomb Group of the 8th Army Air Force, 2nd Bomb Division, 2nd Combat Wing.
- To fund and dedicate memorials to the Kassel Mission at appropriate locations.
- To publish and promote books, articles, and video productions about the Kassel Mission and the 445th Bomb Group, Tibenham, England, in World War II.
Pride of the Nation is the story of that disastrous mission and the reconciliation of former enemies years later.
Your B24 Liberator flies deep into the heart of Germany. Your mission - destroy the vehicle and engine plants at Kassel. Should be a milk run.
The only thing is, 150 elite Luftwaffe Stormgruppe fighters surprise you. Chances are you won't be coming back.

The 8th United States Army Air Force suffers its worst bomb group loss in history when it sends 35 Liberator bombers of the
445th Bomb Group, 2nd Air Division toward Kassel.
Four make it home.
This documentary is part of the commitment by the Joseph G. Dzenowagis family to preserve the history of the 2nd Air Division 8th USAAF and its English friends in WWII.
